Did Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn Adopt Cats from Animal Shelters and Kill Them?

On the surface this sounds like an outlandish claim. But, guess what, it's true!

" Frist acknowledged in a 1989 book that he routinely killed cats while an ambitious medical student at Harvard Medical School in the 1970s. His office said it had no record on how many cats died. Frist disclosed that he went to animal shelters and pretended to adopt the cats, telling shelter personnel he intended to keep them as pets. Instead he used them to sharpen his surgical skills, killing them in the process."

Culture of life my ass!

Killing defenseless animals in unacceptable no matter what religion you are.

Frist asked to atone for killing cats

The more hypocritcal the NeoCons are, the more successful they are...why is that?

I don't think I agree Neo. I think they are starting to come apart at the seams. No one can maintain this kind of dishonest government without a police state. They are trying hard with the patriot act, but there are real conservatives in the Republican party. I doubt that real conservatives will stand for a real police state.

I hope you are right Kenny....

Is it time to "build a bridge" to the remnants of what used to be the Republican Party?

Animal testing is a tough subject. The institutions I have worked all have VERY STRICT guidelines for how animals should be treated. The animals were not supposed to be made to suffer at any time...But it was mice and rats, sometimes rabbits.

I still had a hard time with it. But cats and dogs, there is no way I could do testing on them, let alone primates.

It is a tough call. I am sure animal abuse occurse by some people and some institutions. But the places I worked at went to great lengths to make sure animals were treated humanely.

Everything is regulated. You would be surprised at the regulation and protocols involved for just housing mice. They require certain types of housing, food, water, and treatment. It is all geared toward giving the animal some sort of quality of life.

You are not supposed to cause any animal distress. Ofcourse, a mouse cant tell you if he is stressed out or not...They tried to train us on how to recognize animal distress.

I have never personally witnessed any animal abuse in the facilities I have worked in. On the contrary, the people who ran the animal facilities were usually Vets and loved animals.

But that was just my experience. I am sure out there somewhere people are torturing animals in a manner that is similar to what Frist may have done.

Hasn't it been proven that most serial killers and crazies had an affinity or fetish for killing animals especially cats? Just supports the notion.

To answer your question, because people are morons and still kiss up to the Republicans because of Bush and 9/11.

Kenny, DeLay is tearing them apart, but did you notice how they are playing this? You have not so prominent Republicans saying that he should stay leader, but then you have people like Santorum, very prominent who think he should step down. There is debate within the party, and I think that is why people have not left them.

There are no such thing as real conservatives. If you are not a neocon you are a nationalist.
