Democracy in Iraq. Bleeding heart pipe dream

It's refreshing to hear Republicans talk like Democrats about spreading democracy and nation building, but in all honesty I thought it was silly when Dems did it too.

Unless our nations interests are directly served by this war then the expense in treasure, blood and prestige isn't worth it.

Victory is defined by either money or power or both. Anything short of that is some bleeding heart pipe dream.

What if that stable democracy in Iraq is allied with Iran. Is that victory? What if they sell all their oil to the Chinese or the Europeans. Is that victory?

It's time to think. The time for knee jerk partisan reactions is over. Our country must come first, not some third world sand pit.

If the Democrats had led the charge for the war in Iraq in an effort to spread freedom, democracy, and build a Nation the Republicans would have their panties in a Frist every day over it.

To even think of a stable democracy in Iraq is naive. And if it would have been the democrats crying to "free" Iraq the Republicans would have called them stoopid!
