Operation Rubber Stamp; Republican Held Congress Licks Bush Boot

Senate plans no probe of NSA spy program

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- For now, the Senate Intelligence Committee won't investigate the Bush administration's domestic surveillance program, its chairman said.

"An investigation at this point basically would be detrimental to this highly classified program and our efforts to reach some accommodation with the administration," said Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kansas.

You may Remember Pat Roberts from such rubber stamp hits as the Plame leak investigation white wash. Or, you may remember him from the stalling of the second stage of the Iraq war intelligence investigation. Regardless, Pat is one of Operation Rubber Stamp's biggest stars.

It was KarlRove's doing. He went around to the GOP leadership and told them if they pushed for an investigation that they would get no campaign money.

I am not surprised at all.

Democrats should just do their own investigation using their own money. God knows they can finance it themselves.
